High above the centre of Lisbon, Barrio Alta is a labyrinth of seventeen century streets and allies. Home to many families, this residential area also houses some amazing religious buildings (Convento do Carno and Igreja de Sao Roque to name but two).
You can also find bohemian shops here and some great night time eating and drinking if you have any energy left for exploration after dark.
