Amaltea is a vegetarian and vegan-friendly restaurant in the middle of Barcelona.

As usual in Spain, there is a daily menu between Monday and Friday where you can partake of a starter, a main course, a dessert and coffee for a cost of between ten and fifteen euros (approximately). You can select from a choice of four starters and four main dishes, with several desserts to choose from.

Amaltea use organic tofu, seitan, cereals, pulses and some of the vegetables are organic too apparently. All their bread and desserts are home-made.

The menu consists of many oriental dishes such as brown rice with vegetables and curry dishes. The food is ok and the service is slow but the staff are pleasant. The desserts are particularly good.

Amaltea is a little dated and unimaginative. Vegetarians have far better options in Barcelona.

Their sister branch Govinda specialises in Hindu vegetarian food and can be found here.
