Bionatura Ekotienda – is one of several health food merchants in the centre of Marbella, but in my ever so humble opinion, is by far the best.
It’s really the marvellous of organic fruits and vegetables on sale in Bionatura Ekotienda that sets it above the rest. And the range is not paltry. You can find red and green peppers, butternut squash, red onions, fennel, pineapples, melons, cherries, grapes, zucchini, avocadoes and then some.
Another reason why Bionatura Ekotienda is my fave is because they sell a few products that I’ve missed in my two years away from the UK. Products such as Green & Black’s organic chocolate; Infinity Foods nuts and seeds and a good range of fabulous Clipper teas.
Bionatura Ekotienda stocks a marvellous selection of organic treats suitable for vegan and vegetarians, or health fanatics (what a ridiculous saying that is), those who look for green alternatives, or those who would just rather eat organic.
Of course they also sell the usual variety of pastas (eg wholewheat, spirulina, wheat-free pasta and gluten-free pastas), different types of rice; cereals including Alara breakfast muesli; along with different vinegars and oils, honeys, sugar free jams (sweetened with fructose or apple juice), face products and cleaning products.
Other items fairly unique to Bionatura Ekotiena (in Spain at least) are Sunnyvale sprouted raw organic 10 plus manuka honey, VitaCoco coconut water in large and small cartons, several different types of miso (including shuri, genmai and mugi), Divine fair-trade chocolate, Crazy Jacks dried fruit (dates, figs, wild blueberries and cranberries), cashew nut butter (not seen since I left England), organic chicken (if you have a doggy or meat eating family member) and bags of frozen berries such as cherries and fruits of the forest which are perfect for making ice cold smoothies.
Bionatura Ekotienda is a fantastic shop with a really varied stock and loads of welcome surprises if you’ve been shopping at health food shops in Spain for a while.
What with the lovely Loving Hut just down the road, and Bionatura Ekotienda – Marbella has proved to be the best place I’ve found for vegetarians and health Nazis like myself, since leaving Barcelona.
