At face value Camping Orbitur Costa de Caparica in Portugal is a fairly bland affair, much like Costa de Caparica itself. However, beyond the gates, there are some fairly lovely little spots to camp for a night or two (there’s not much to hold you in this part of Portugal unless you are a fan of concrete.
The permanent homes used by the Portuguese in particular are fairly attractive, creating tiny avenues that would be almost souk-like if it weren’t for the fact that they are made from awnings and trailers.
The pitches are separated car lot-style, however, the number of creaking pine trees create an attractive ambiance.
Another bonus of Camping Orbitur Costa de Caparica is its proximity to the beach. Within five to eight minutes you can go from your camper or tent to treading on delightfully soft sands. If you are lucky enough to be travelling with a four-legged, befurred friend, then there is a large green and natural area before you even get to the beach.
Along the beach there is a wide promenade and lots of beach-side bars and restaurants to stop at, should thirst and hunger materialise.
Camping Orbitur Costa de Caparica has a fair supermarket where you can buy general supplies and camping supplies and a café, bar and restaurant where you can get pizza, main dishes, snacks and cakes.
Within five minutes walk along Av. Afonso de Albuquerque (turn right out of the campsite), you can find Sant Antonio panaderia, for cakes, croissants and coffee.
Just thirty minutes drive south of Lisbon, Camping Orbitur Costa de Caparica is a good stop with decent facilities.
