Camping Orbitur Guincho in Portugal is a huge campsite not so far from Lisbont that backs a generous and stunning coast.
There is a large choice of pitches and accommodation options from A-frame houses and bungalows to tiny camping spots concealed beneath tall pines.
Camping Orbitur Guincho has large cabins that overlook gorgeous sand dunes that undulate towards the horizon.
Facilities include a swimming pool, a decent-sized snack bar that delivers pastries, pizzas and other hot food until 9.30pm. There is also a wi-fi area with TVs where you can take advantage of free broadband.
The supermarket is small but sells a decent range of bare essentials from fresh fruit and wine to cakes and camping equipment.
To get to the beach, you need to leave the campsite and turn left. A ten minute will take you along a dynamic wooden walkway through the dunes with the option to get off at the beach.
The beach consists of several coves of soft white sand with sun beds and parsols and a couple of hotels. This coast gets windy.
Camping Orbitur Guincho is a great campsite, and during low season, you can easily find yourself a deserted nook in which to conceal yourself, undisturbed by others. If you are with tent, then you can really benefit from the crookedy terrain and lanky pines.
The staff at Camping Orbitur Guincho are friendly and speak excellent English. A great place but half an hour from Lisbon.
