Chiringuito Cabana is probably the best of all the chiringuitos that line the beach front at Bolonia, Costa de la Luz, Andalucia, but the quality comes at a premium.
The bar itself is a lovely looking place; a thatched Thai-style roof supported by dark wooden beams around which hammocks, swinging chairs and best of all a couple of Balinese beds. Yes, it would seem that the order of the day at Chiringuito Cabana is relaxation.
To help you on your way they offer food, drinks and cocktails and after the short hike east along the beach you’ll probably be ready for some of that. This is where it stings a little.
I guess you’re paying for exclusivity; Chiringuito Cabana offers free wi-fi as well as its many chill-out toys and as such the food prices are a little steep.
A plate of ‘patatas bravas’, for instance, will set you back a cool 6 euros which is more than double what you’d expect to pay anywhere else.
But it’s not all about the food and drinks, right? Well, no, it’s not. When you put the place in context it kind of makes sense. It’s in a stunning location at the peaceful end of a long stretch of golden beach with mountains behind it and plenty of comfortable ways to escape the world.
The interior décor isn’t lacking either and it looks like the whole chiringuito has grown out of the bar which is a big plank of wood surrounded by poles and thatch. It feels almost Hawaiian inside.
Particular highlights are the range of fresh juices and the home-made chocolate cake, three servings of which seemed to find their way into our bellies. Do I feel bad about that? Not a bit…
So, for a classy place to relax where the food is good, the views are excellent and the furniture is divine, Chiringuito Cabana in Bolonia is a tough one to beat. Except on prices.
