Vilafranca del Penedes
Quite a surprising find I thought in the tradititional residential town of Vilafranca del Penedes near Sitges in Catalonia.
They vend organic fruits such as lemons, limes, coconuts, pineapples, avocadoes, bananas, apples and Spain’s favourite – the orange. Vegetables such as fennel, string beans, potatoes, giant spring onions, zucchini, tomatoes, celery, peppers and carrots.
They also sell organic teas, coffees, locally produced honeys, cheeses, jams, pickles, marmalades, oils, vinegars, herbs and spices.
In the grocery section they sell milk substitutes, rice and pasta,
The range isn’t massive but compared to the size of Vilafranca del Penedes, it’s a pretty impressive shop size and fingers crossed, a sign of things to come.
The woman who serves there is a smiler and although she doesn’t speak English is very happy to help.
