Avda Ramon y Cajal
Occupying a bright and airy corner, Hermanos Roldan is a refreshing modern patisserie, heladeria and café serving excellent quality food and drinks in a contemporary, shady and air-conditioned shop in the centre of Fuengirola (just a few minutes walk from the bus station.)
There is a huge range of cakes on offer from croissants to muffins, waffles to cupcakes, Danish pastries to cheesecakes. Whether you want a café con leche with a croissant or an individual gift cake or a massive celebration cake, or you are passing by and need an ice cream to refresh you when it hits 40 degrees, Hermanos Roldon is the spot for you.
Despite looking upmarket, Hermanos Roldon is unpretentious and the staff young and super friendly.
The Parisienne looking fare is drool worthy – I was that drooler – and the cheese cakes in particular were divine. Even the unpretentious home-baked almond cake had me salivating.
They also sell chocolates in beautiful presentation boxes and have a small selection of home-baked breads such as baguettes and they also do sandwiches on small rolls and baguettes. They have some healthy looking breads.
Hermanos Rolden’s ice-creams come highly recommended and include a sugar-free Turron flavour and a lactose-free chocolate. Other flavours include lemon, cream, yogurt, yogurt with raspberry, fruits of the forest, white chocolate, vanilla, Snickers, Ferrero Rocher, yogurt with fruits of the forest and lots more.
If you want something healthy then you’re pretty much looking at herbal teas. There is a tea menu with twelve different types of tea (all served in pyramid bags). You can choose from mint leaves, dark chocolate and mint, red tea, green tea with jasmine, black tea with orange pieces and sencha tea with cherries, to name but a few.
If you are a one hundred percent raw food vegan don’t even think about it, unless you fancy a bit of naughty and a sit down in a cool shady spot whilst you indulge yourself. In that case I recommend Hermanos Rolden. The best café and cake shop in Fuengirola (well, probably.)
