The outer walls of Lisbon’s Castle have been immaculately preserved and are still as impressive today as they must have been almost a thousand years ago when they were built by the Moors. They are now a much visited tourist attraction and a stern reminder of the bloodshed Lisbon suffered throughout the centuries as it fought to become the capital of Portugal; free from Spain and the Moors.
