Situated bang in the centre of Arenys de Mar, along the main street of Riera Bisbe Pol, 86 is the Mercat Municipal d’Arenys de Mar – Arenys de Mar market in other, slightly less Spanish, words.
Arenys de Mar market consists of about twenty stalls selling fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, and cheeses. There is also a rather incongruous stall selling second-hand books.
The stall holders are friendly and simpatico and have a pretty good range of fruits and vegetables for a small wee town on the Costa Brava.
There are lots of meat options at Arenys de Mar market if you are feeding raw dogs, are a carnivore yourself who stumbled upon this website by accident whilst drunk on meat fumes or if you know someone who is, but sadly, none of the meat is organic.
There is parking all down the sides of Riere Bisbe Pol and so staying there to stock up on bags and bags of fruit and vegetables shouldn’t be a problem and the beach is but a five minute stroll away. You couldn’t make it up.
The market is in a stunning building worthy of a photo or two, even if you’re not desperate to get your hands on a big pair of ripe melons.
Arenys de Mar is a cute little town with a few hidden gems such as the gorgeous church of Santa Maria.
