Rethinking the Van Design – Making the Corner Couch in Pictures

Once again the design starts on paper. This one evolved as I went along but the end result was worth the outpouring of thoughts.

 

I decided to go with a modular construct for a number of reasons; firstly it would be easier to build, secondly it could be moved or rearranged in future with around zero hassle and finally, I just liked that idea.

 

Again, the outer frames were the first part to be built.

 

I cut all the beams first and labelled them clearly so I knew what was going where. I'm organised see...

 

I used two 75mm screws in each corner to make sure the beams stayed straight and rigid.

 

The basic box took about an hour to make. Next up was the slats...

 

The first slat is fixed in place.

 

Followed by the rest.
