Calle de Nieremberg, 23
Monday to Friday 9am-9pm
(closed on Sundays)
An inexpensive vegan-friendly organic café that is also a shop and sells jewelry.
Sopa say that they use the best possible organic local ingredients they can lay their organic fingers on in their home-made food.
They serve a range of soups – hence the title – daily that might be hot, rugged and spicy during the ‘colder’ months or something lighter and a bit more kicky during Spring and Summer such as gazpacho or lentil soup. In addition, they serve hot sandwiches and other hot dishes such as couscous, vegetable rices and vegetables.
They also have a juice bar and serve macrobiotic food items, if you have a propensity for that kind of stuff.
Some examples from their menu are as follows:
Starters cost €4.50 and might be borsht, gazpacho or lentil soup. Second courses include vegetables and rice or pasta with mushrooms, goat cheese salad, sandwiches (pesto, lettuce and tomato), falafel, quiches and tarts. And lots more.
For desserts there are wholewheat cookies, and homemade cakes and ice creams in yogurt, fruits of the forest, chocolate and mango flavours.
Natural juices cost €2.10. There is also organic beer, coffee and cola to quench any burgeoning thirst you’ve managed to acquire whilst losing yourself in Madrid.
In the shop there are the usual selection of organic products such as sweeteners, olive oil, pasta sauces, flours, olive oils, cheeses, wine, tofu and soy products.
They also sell products suitable for celiacs and diabetics.
