The high and narrow walls of Obidos can be daunting but are well worth the vertigo they induce. The views across the terracotta rooftops to the castle at the north end of the town are staggering as are those cast across the west to the verdant countryside and distant Lagoa de Obidos. There are no handrails at all along the walls but the sense of danger heightens the experience all the more.
